Find out which banks and home loan companies are making the best use of mobile.

No longer a “nice to have”, mobile sites are fast becoming a “must have” – 79% of Australians use their mobile devices to get information online, 76% use the device for visiting sites or searching the internet, according to the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy

FIRST looked at how banks and home loan companies display their websites on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

In this report we discovered:

  • Responsive vs. non-responsive. Only two banks have opted for a responsive website where the site adjusts its resolution or screen size to fit whatever device the user is using.
  • Mobile-only sites.  Almost a quarter of the banks reviewed opted for mobile sites that only show locational information for their branches and ATMs. If the user was looking for more information, they were directed to the desktop site.
  • Missed opportunities. Due to the way menu options are displayed and the order of content on the sites reviewed, some aspects to the site were difficult to view and navigate as they weren’t touchscreen friendly.
